'She was never happier than when she had the sails up, the gunnels in the water and the wind in her hair.'

Marlene passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at LGH after a lengthy struggle with COPD.

Marlene was the seventh child (of nine) born to Ella and Gordon Hill on a farm in Markdale, Ontario. She will be lovingly missed by her partner of 53 years, Alan Kellie and their two daughters Erin (Ryan) and Camille. She cherished every single moment with her family especially her grandchildren Meryk, Madox, Maeve, Adelaide, and Conan. She also leaves behind her siblings Annette, Marie, Gail, Wendy and Bill in Ontario, her niece Terry in Vancouver and so many friends and family members.

Marlene and Alan sailed the West Coast together for 40 years with their children and pals Barrie and Sue Baptie.

She was never happier than when she had the sails up, the gunnels in the water and the wind in her hair.

Moving to Gibsons in 2013 she loved the tranquility of her home because it brought her back to a small town and closer to her Grandchildren. Though she wasn't sailing anymore she truly enjoyed her spectacular view of Howe Sound and the North Shore every single day.

Marlene's culinary abilities were renowned.  Blessed with a blue-ribbon chef for a  mother and being a super taster herself, she had uncanny abilities in the kitchen.

Unfortunately, the last few months she lived with no voice, but we had great conversations in whispers.

She will be sorely missed.
